The latest release of our Metascan® for Linux distributions is now available on the OPSWAT Portal. This release introduces new enhancements such as HTTPS support and compliance reports for auditors and system administrators so that encrypted services can be used alongside Metascan for Linux.

Compliance Reports with Metascan for Linux

The new update history functionality records all events related to anti-malware and other engine updates. In case of an incident, auditors and system administrators can easily consult the update history in order to find out which version of an engine or database was active at any particular time. Using this feature, they can also ensure that their product receives updates continuously and on-time.

Starting with this release, the product User Guide is available from the Metascan user interface. So customers using Metascan for Linux in an offline environment will not need to use another Internet-connected computer to access the documentation they need from the OPSWAT Portal.

In this release, we are also introducing HTTPS support for both REST APIs and Web Management Consoles. Customers can use their own certificates to connect to Metascan through encrypted services.

In addition, engine management has been improved in the new Metascan for Linux version. Now administrators can disable or enable an engine globally, without having to edit scan workflows or disable engines that are currently in use by their workflows.

To upgrade from a former version of Metascan 4.x, you can simply install the latest version. To upgrade from Metascan 3.x a separate license is necessary. For more information, please consult the Metascan user guide.

Other Fixes and Enhancements:

  • No scan downtime while updating engine/database (if the engine supports this)
  • Reworked results page for archived files
  • More descriptive communication error messages instead of error codes in logs
  • Proper handling of update and download issues
  • Fixed handling of scan engine crashes
  • Fixed manual update package upload
  • Fixed unwanted warning message after successful activation
