OPSWAT today announced the release of GEARS Cloud, a network security and manageability solution that allows IT administrators to monitor devices, automatically fix compliance issues, and uninstall non-compliant applications.
GEARS Cloud provides network administrators visibility and management of devices and the device applications. The cloud-based solution makes it easier to detect and manage a comprehensive set of applications including antivirus, hard disk encryption, public file sharing, antiphishing and many others. GEARS Cloud can be configured to automatically remediate issues with the status of applications and can also enable uninstallation of non-compliant applications.
With detailed status reports and alerts, GEARS Cloud enables IT managers to quickly address issues of importance to their network security and compliance. Healthcare organizations, for example, can easily identify devices without encryption enabled and take action to maintain HIPAA compliance. GEARS Cloud can also be configured to automatically remediate issues, such as re-enabling real time antivirus or firewall protection.
“Many of our customers are government entities that require auditable security compliance reporting,” said Shlomi Sivan, CEO at Sivan Design. “GEARS Cloud greatly simplifies the task of monitoring employee devices, alerting our IT department to security compliance issues, and in many cases, centrally remediating the issue found.”
GEARS Cloud leverages the capabilities of OPSWAT’s OESIS Framework to detect the numerous applications installed on devices. OESIS Framework’s extensive functionality provides detailed endpoint assessment and management of thousands of applications on both Windows and Mac platforms (Android and iOS coming soon). By utilizing OESIS, GEARS Cloud also ensures that the security applications reporting their status are authentic and not rogue antivirus programs.
GEARS Cloud also helps network administrators save time by enabling remote uninstallation of unwanted antivirus applications or public file sharing applications. Powered by OPSWAT’s AppRemover technology, this feature provides the ability to easily restore compliance to devices with non-compliant applications installed.
“We are very excited to announce GEARS Cloud,” said Yiyi Miao, Software Engineering Manager at OPSWAT. “GEARS Cloud is a great way for IT professionals to manage and monitor their many devices and to maintain compliance of devices in their network.”
